Tory Burch Spring 2011 Preview

SPRING 11. The other day I went to the Tory Burch Spring 2011 preview in IFC Mall Hong Kong. The collection consists of vibrant reds, yellows and greens as always, but this time together with a mix of nature and nautical vibe, with animal patterns and a touch of navy blue.

J'adore this chunky plastic necklace, the plastic pieces are silhouettes of swallows.

This new Robinson Satchel in yellow is lovely too, the top handle and shape makes it very different from ordinary satchels. Featured in Harper's Bazaar, Poppy Red and Cricket Green available on Tory Burch.

Not a big fan of brights, so this outfit became my favorite out of the lot. Together, all that golden tweed, dots and wavy patterns do not seem too much at all.

Neon orange in unanimity with the rainbow brights Spring 2011 trend.

Another Spring 2011 trend, the flatforms, also sported in Chanel and Prada. Yay or nay?

A little resemblance with the Céline box bag and Hermès Constance?

Wooden wedges, tan soft buttery leather, perfect for a relaxed spring day.

Leather jacket Calvin Klein
Camel button down sweater Zara
Pointy capped toe flats Chanel
Navy Bayswater bag Mulberry

Pringle of Scotland Spring 2011

POST HOLIDAY. After a relaxed and well rested holiday I am back again, missed the first class of my last semester today. So first up I wanted to share this lovely Pringle of Scotland Spring 2011 ad campaign, featuring actress Freya Mavor. Those shoes are heaven aren't they?

Spring 2011 Runway Trends from WWD

Chloé RTW Spring 2011

Christian Dior RTW Spring 2011

Givenchy RTW Spring 2011

John Galliano RTW Spring 2011

Valentino RTW Spring 2011

FLOATY. It's not even Fall in Hong Kong and I'm already looking forward to SS next year. This is one of Spring 2011 trends among the numerous from WWD, one of my favorites too. I think garments that are relaxed, floaty and sheer are very appealing, spelling sexy and minimal effort at the same time. Thats why I chose to post about this trend, obviously because I am uber excited about it. Look at how the frocks glide in the air, all that languidness oh so romantic.

Hippies' Heaven

MILAN FASHION WEEK SPRING 2011: Roberto Cavalli brought back the nomadic free milieu of the hippies era in his Spring 2011 collection in the dreamiest way possible, also with his signature rock & roll, opulent sexual glitz and glam.

Long flowey constructions was integral in the collection, everything kept light with tulle in whitewashed nude, lilac, grey hues, long bohemian fringes and yes, a load of sparkles. For evenings, there were the occasional blacks and browns bedazzled with jewels.

The mesmerizing collection was floating in air: with Cavalli injecting his signature discreetly, sensual but not too revealing slashes here and there, with a wild touch of animal prints in silks and organza. Oh what a reverie.

New York Fashion Week: Spring 2011

In comes the new season Spring 2011, starting with New York Fashion Week. I didn’t feel like doing special posts about it or anything, after all fall has just begun, and in some places summer is not even over yet. Sometimes it just feels like fashion is going way too forward, gets a bit overwhelming and tiring really. Tom Ford is right; we all get what made the fashion immediacy happen, but the need for it? No. Immediacy is not going to replace anything, but somehow once you see too much of a collection or a trend it gets overexposed and boring before its time to wear them.

Anyway, so I was saying I didn’t want to post anything about fashion week but I am giving in, honestly, can’t boycott immediacy. Here are some of my favorite picks from New York Fashion Week, obviously countless shows were just as fabulous, like Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang, Sass & Bide, Michael Kors just to name a few, but these are the ones that I like the most, collection en bloc.

Marchesa Spring 2011 – Purely spectacular cocktail and evening wear: pastel tones and flowery organza drapes; exquisite dresses with fine embroideries; laser cut delicacy in the most lavish way imaginable. Each piece is determined to take your breath away, hello? Are we still looking at prêt-a-porter?

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 – This collection particularly stands out because it completely dissent the use of pastels and white (which is almost the essential colours of spring). Exotic and resort themed, gypsy shaped dresses in Moroccan colours, large flower appliqués with a touch of a flamingo dancer all trés trés séduisant.

Rodarte Spring 2011 – Think streams golden sunlight sifting into a barn, a country-esque milieu. Quite a nice break from the heap of white which seems to be really popular this season. Consists major juxtaposing of different colours and fabrics, the pieces are spotlessly tailored and draped sending a childwoman vibe.
