Coach Samie Heel

|| Coach Samie Heel ||

My oh my how Coach footwear has dramatically evolved! With the rise of practical footwear, pointed-toe pumps make the tolerable heel height much more slimming and inspiring with the beautiful arch of the foot. Gilded with a slightly clunky retro heel, this Coach Samie Heel is of stylish pointed-toe pump perfection.

To bag or not to bag

Most of the traditional footwear labels try their hand at handbags; without doubt they can make awe-inspiring shoes but handbags? Not so much. I am only judging by aesthetic reasons here not from a monetary point of view. Their handbag lines still exist for obvious reasons, it is one of the most lucrative businesses in fashion.

Jimmy Choo Parker and Cassie

I think Jimmy Choo should quit handbag production entirely – their designs look like what high street brands would do and the only remarkable bag might be the acrylic clutch, credits only given to the creative choice of material. Christian Louboutin shoulder bags are lucky to live off the popularity of the studded peep-toes and loafers. Salvatore Ferragamo has some nice arm candy but no one really pays attention. All but Roger Vivier, the Miss Viv handbag range has done well with the unmistakable rectangular metal buckle. On top of that, what more publicity do they need when the First Lady of France is a keen devotee?

In Flats and In Style

FLATS. Most of the time Olivia Palermo is in heels, but even when in flats, she's in style. The sunglasses and the clutch add so much to the all black outfit don't they?

Fall 2010 Footwear Trend: Menswear Inspired

I did a post on the loafers trend of Fall 2010 footwear previously, this post is on the the menswear inspired footwear trend in general. From the very much hyped about oxfords and brogues to chelsea boots and loafers, we've got it all.

Images via WGSN and CW
[Gossip Girl] Pair a girly round bottom dress with nude brogues, a grey blazer and a gentleman's hat, et violà! It's Serena in Paris. Her Paris styles were even more immaculately put together than the usual Serena.

These may be plain, but they can add a vintage touch to the whole outfit. Loafers or oxfords, wear them with a dress for easy pairing or baggy trousers for a dandy look.

Clockwise from top leftOlivia Morris For Grenson Lace Up from Urban Outfitters UK; Salvatore Ferragamo Oxfords inspired pump, very feminine; Topshop KARL Tassel Loafers, ASOS WHITE WISE Leather Penny Loafers, with an extra bit of height; Steve Madden Malenee in Cognac and Bone (I loved this bone coloured oxfords but it wasn't available in any of the stores in Hong Kong, so i settled for the white ones).

For a modern vibe like Olivia Palermo's outfit, try shiny shiny materials like metallic and patent, add an extra oomph of colour too.

Clockwise from top left, Marc by Marc Jacobs Pinked & Perforated Patent Oxfords in gold and charcoal from Shopbop; Olivia Morris for Grenson lace up from Urban Outfitters UK, this fuchsia and gold colour combination is a definite head turner; Ballerina meets Loafers: Repetto Michael Patent Slip On Flat Shoes from ASOS; Topshop KAMILLE Soft Leather Brogues; Salvatore Ferragamo 'My Bright' Patent Leather Loafer in red from Nordstrom and Salvatore Ferragamo Fly Drivers in bronze from Saks.

Sock It Up This Fall

Socks are not going anywhere, sported on the runway and by Alexa Chung since last Fall and Spring, it is still going to be a big hit this season. Think about it, socks really are quite an effective an economical way to update a look.

First off we have the ankle socks, sported in the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 show, the socks in a way reinforces the brand with fun, flirty and young elements. I think it is also incredibly versatile too, take a look at the ankle sock demos by J. Crew. Pair it with your favorite platform sandals and it's a whole new look! However, on a side note, not every colour goes well unless with amazing legs.

  7. Add a vintage touch with blue florals or more feminine with a bow, Topshop.

Chunky socks, wear them thigh high or slouched down, can be layered with tights or simply worn with platform sandals and booties.

  5. Old school J. Crew Camp Sock.
  6. Ultra comfort and softness with these Tweed Cable Over-the-Knee Socks from Hue, can be a pair of over the knee boots in disguise too!

The thigh high socks are definitely my favorites, because they do have leg lengthening effects even with flats on. Which is especially great for people like me who doesn't have amazing legs.

  2. DKNY Intimates Rib Over the Knee Socks from Bloomingdales. These can be worn slouchy too.

Charlotte's Web

Popular among celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Emma Watson, Kate Hudson and more and for her atypical platforms, Charlotte Olympia introduces us her new collection for AW 2010-2011.

Everything quirky and mostly sky high as usual, the collection is a mix of electric colours with black. There is, of course a variation of flats and leopard prints.
Who can resist a bit of patent cap toe?

This is a variation to those popular Jeffery Campbell platform booties in leopard.

This blue speaks for itself.

The neon coloured plexi-glass heels not only breaks out from the boring black but also adds a futuristic touch.

Midnight blue and the detailing = spot on.

These are my favorites, find more of these goodies on Vogue!

Fall 2010 Footwear Trend: Bows

This fall, apart from the slightly masculine heeled loafers, we will also see a lot femininity in footwear. The bow trend is found on the Fall 2010 RTW catwalks. I have high lighted two major brands sporting this trend.

Firstly we have Louis Vuitton which presents the bow trend through clean, polished heels in various materials such as satin, ostrich leather, crocodile leather etc. The pumps are made more intriguing by using contrast colours on the heel as well as sparkley diamonds for a tone on tone effect. We can see that this fall footwear is not limited to dark and cold colours but also pastel, feminine colourways.

Next here is Miu Miu. While Prada is sporting the heeled loafers trend, we have here the bow trend. Multiple ornament like bows and florals are found on these Miu Miu pumps. There is an occasional shoe accessory on top of the pump which works well like a bootie. Again their footwear is not limited to dark colours and also uses pastels.

Zara sale

No work today, so went shopping. I spotted Zara was finally on sale so went in for a stroll. Well I didnt have targets, but quickly decided on this pair of heels.

They're pretty high but with soft insoles and platforms so it should be ok. Obviously power walking in these is a no-no.

Nice bargain.

Getting warmer

Yippie it is getting warmer, I can now finally wake up without a blocked nose. Today I tried on my new Kain Label pocket tank, it's so soft and comfortable, sheer too.

I worn it with black zipped leggings from Hollister and platforms from Prada.

I got these Pradas on sale a few years ago in Japan, they do provide comfort like platforms usually do. I even worn them for shopping, and no damage was done to my feet, tres bien.

I also love the height and the bit of eastern/tribal feeling to it.

Threw on a shawl since it's still a bit chilly.
